Made by crunching up an empty metal can, lowering the pitch of the recording while preserving its tempo, then mixing with a mechanized version of the same recording after a slight delay.
To me it sounds like a vicious mini robot monster screeching while scurrying towards you. Or a mecha suit transforming.
