The haunting sound of coyotes along the James River below posh Windsor Farms. Recorded from across the river, in Pony Pasture Park, at the point where Pleasants Creek reaches the river, beginning around 7:00 pm.
Before getting to the spot I heard a couple of single yips, not enough to know what made them. Soon as I set down the recorder on the river bank they began their concert. Partway through they paused, and an airplane passed by.
The last sunlight had left the sky and a thick crescent moon was rising; temperature about 60° F, clear sky all day. Zoom H4n on a Gorilla Pod set on the ground.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Richmond hasn’t had coyotes until recently, so it isn’t a sound we’re familiar with.
