Barkul is a dot on the bank of Chilika - one of India's largest brackish water lagoons. It has one tourist guest house and a few shops and establishments around it. This is the sound of a cricket (or some other similar insect) recorded at night. There is a religious programme going on somewhere in the distance and their songs can be heard faintly. Some guests can also be heard speaking softly among themselves. The recording was done with the internal microphones of my Edirol R09HR
