You are absolutely right. It's indeed a Jungle Owlet. I am impressed by your keen ears and knowledge. On Xeno-Canto I have a better recording of the same bird. I didn't give the bird names here for two reasons - a. freesound is not really a bird vocalisation site. It's more into the sound than the species making the sound. b. I am not too good with birds of Western Ghats.

It would be nice if you also mention some of the more prominent bird calls. I think Jungle Owlet is one of them...cheers and thanks!
