The Chocalho de Platinela ('rattle/shaker with little plates') is a large and very loud metal shaker, with jingles similar to a tambourine, mounted in three long rows on an aluminium frame. They are used en masse in samba bands, usually playing a simple but very fast rhythm.
A short excerpt of a complex chocalho rhythm, at no particular bpm.
