This is a recording of a single hummingbird feeding in a cluster of bee-balm. At first the bird's wing-beats are very quiet, blending in with the background ambiance.
The sound of the wing-beats increases and diminishes as the bird hovers and feeds at different flowers in the cluster. There are rustling sounds as its wings brush against leaves. All of this takes place within about 2 feet of the microphone.
From around 46 to 52 seconds the bird is directly in front of the microphone, looking at it as if to see if it was some sort of flower.
This was recorded using an M-Audio Microtrack hanging from a string, using the "T" stereo mic that is standard with the unit.
