I'm a sound amateur (from latin amatorem; engl. admirer, lover) and dilettante (from latin delectare; engl. to enjoy) located in Lüneburg, Germany.
Although I like field recordings and would like to make my own ones, I'm passionate about (electronic) music. Despite listening to a lot of genres I prefer the calmer ones—particularly syncopated rhythms prevalent in electronic music from the UK over the last twenty years. So I like Ambient/Intelligent/Atmospheric/Liquid Drum & Bass, Classic and Post Dubstep and Future Garage. For years now I'm observing the outputs of Burial—and love it. It's probably because it all comes together in his music: syncopated rhythms, ambience and dark, melancholic moods with a spark of hope. But I'm also interested in somewhat more experimental stuff (Clicks and Cuts/Glitch, ...) and as a friend of field recordings and ambient music I'm also into Musique Concrete.
For some years I was a passive user of Freesound and finally decided to start over with a new account and begin to contribute. Here on Freesound I'll mainly upload recorded and processed one-shots for use in music, footage, games and the like, but I may also upload loops and soundscapes. They will be released under an attribution license, to avoid others monetizing them by redistributing (without adding value) as single files or in packs without a backlink to Freesound. I encourage the use of my sounds in uncommercial and commercial creative works of all kinds.
You can use my works according to CC BY 3.0 by attributing my user name, freesound.org and the license. Examples: - "[sound name]" by Porphyr (freesound.org/people/Porphyr) / CC BY 3.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0) or with html links: - "[sound name]" by Porphyr / CC BY 3.0 or - "[sound name]" by freesound.org/people/Porphyr (CC BY 3.0) or - "[sound name]" by Porphyr (on freesound.org) / CC BY 3.0
PS: I would like to know and hear/see the results of what you've done with my sounds. So send me a link within a message or put it in a comment, if you like. Thank You!
