..Montpellier, *Camping le Parc* in August 2023. Last week of our vacation before the boy's first day at school. This is the seventh and the last last time we assemble the tent for the summer. I went for a walk in the middle of the night -maybe at 3:30 or 4. As expected it's a very, very calm recording. You can focus on the strange bird voice appearing from time to time and, if you happen to recognize it, I'd be please if you let me know :)

Thank you @klankbeeld for the well-grounded information! As you already have determined, the owl sings only at the beginning --it might have noticed that it was my motivation to start the recording...

#0:09 #0:17 is a Little Owl
This is what I can find on the internet for you

The call https://xeno-canto.org/142961
The little owl is barely larger than a blackbird, yet looks a bit bulkier because of its stuffed feathers. The plumage is predominantly brown to grayish brown with white streaks and drop-shaped spots. Striking are the bright yellow eyes and light “eyebrows. The occiput appears to be a copy of the forehead with eyes squinted. At rest, its stature is stocky; at wakefulness, the owl stretches. Not always visible are the long, feathered legs.
