! Version with parallel compression - for the extra Drama ;-) !
Recording of the tourist shooting range at the Cu Chi Tunnels, former hideout and supply system of the Vietcong Guerilla. Located north of Ho Chi Minh City / Vietnam.
Sounds of real rounds of AK47, M16, M60 and some other guns I can't specify.
Fun fact: one bullet is about 1.65$ (less for the small guns, more for the bigger ones), so in this recording, approximately 230$ were blown into the air ;-)

Thanks a lot!
As I had no quality equipment with me, nor the time to do a proper setup, it's just the little Olympus LS-7 pocket recorder, placed maybe 3 to 6 meters behind the guns.
For its size and price, it's doing a pretty good job - though, a little bit of post processing (EQ, Stereo field) is involved ;-)

Awesome! thanks for sharing your experience!
And a nice recording too, stereo is a huge plus!
either you have a really good mic or you didn't get too close, either way... As far as I can tell the preamp never kicked in. (happy)
