For nearly 40 years, field recording has been a great hobby for me. This upload was recorded on open-reel tape at my childhood home in 1976. I have moved nine times since then, and have lugged around boxes and boxes of open reel tapes. Well, I have transcribed to digital some of these (finally) and this is one of them.
I simply hung a single microphone (unknown) out the window one rainy day, and hit record. The result is 29 minutes and 35 seconds. I am amazed at the number of birds in this recording. So many. The rain picks up and lets off here and there. The wind also rises a few times. You can hear church bells, too. A wonderful recording that sat in silence for 35 years. Amazing to me that all those little magnetic fields on the tape remained magnetized so well for so long. Magnetism is not really all that well-understood, I think.
Enjoy as you see fit!
