The sound of rather green leaves falling off a tree. It may sound like people or animals walking through the leaves, but, beside some passing cars and the neighbors making breakfast, leaves falling is the only source of sound. Recorded at sunrise, November 24th, 2007. Overnight was the first hard freeze of the season. I think the leaf stems froze solid, and when the sun rose and hit the tree, the stems thawed. Since the structure of the plant cells were destroyed during the freeze, when they thawed, the leaves started falling like rain. It was like a waterfall of leaves. I grabbed my Marantz pmd660 and At822 stereo mic and hit record. Some of the leaves struck the microphone. I've been playing this on 'loop' all morning. All the Best to all my fellow freesounders.

Thank you. but there was no walking involved. This is just the sound of leaves falling on the ground. I set the recorder outside, turned it on and walked inside. I left it on for about 10 minutes, went out and turned it off.

Yes very cool! I would have loved to see it...sounds like the tree should have run out of leaves in about 5 minutes!
I recorded a similar sound when the wind disturbed the upper canopy of a rainforest.
