Recording made in the study of Sigmund Freud's final home at 20 Maresfield Gardens, in London's Hampstead. The family moved here after escaping the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. It was the family home until the death of his daughter Anna in 1982, and then became the Freud Museum. The study was preserved by Anna after Freud's death in 1939 and contains his psychoanalytical couch, his desk and chair, many of his books, his collection of antiquities, pictures and personal effects. It is the room in which he died, in September 1939, in a bed overlooking the garden. I should like to thank the Freud Museum for their support of this project.
