This recording was made while standing on a bicycle path near the Mississippi River in the French Quarter of New Orleans, LA, 03-18-2011.
Prominent in the recording is the steam-organ / calliope of the steamboat S.S. Nachez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natchez_%28boat%29) A person at the keyboard atop the boat plays a jaunty tune reminiscent of carousel or circus music.
The recording was made from approximately this vantage at twice the distance: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rtrINnKcZIU/UgEQY-RAcKI/AAAAAAAAL1s/UpBN-846nmY/s1600/DSC_0335.JPG (I do not own this photograph, nor do I claim any credit for it.)
