Maribor - The year was 1909 when Emanuel Ilich, a Czech Jew and a skilled confectioner, opened a confectionery shop in what was then a completely artisanal and still lively street in the old part of Maribor, where it can still be found today. It smelled of the Viennese pastry school, with fruit strudels, pies, chamrolles, cakes, etc. in the display cases. A classic Old Town confectionery with a touch of Viennese café has been with the townspeople for a century. There isn't a citizen of Maribor who doesn't have memories of Ilich...
