3D DIY binaural dummy head recording. Intended for headphone listening.
Bird sounds from my garden and adjoining woods around dawn this morning, notably a woodpecker pecking wood.
Other sounds - cat meowing at me (back, near start), airliner (back left to front right ~10km+,), pigeon flapping wings (inc. up, towards end), train (right ~2km.), scafolding? being moved, and some traffic (right ~1km.) Woods mainly front and left, house and hillside behind, town right (1-2km.),slightly down.
Very demanding soundstage to reproduce with wide range of distances, directions, and frequency bands. Some sounds have very limited bandwidth (eg. HF air attenuation at 1Km.+ ) making localization more tricky. Good test for headphone imaging.
Best on headphones, but works quite well on stereo speakers.
Roland Quad Capture to PC.
Unfortunately there is some audible hiss from new aux. mics, if played too loud.

Thank you! Where did you record this? I hear a blackbird, pigeon, .... Would be interesting to know where this is based so I can avoid adding wrong birds to my woodpecker story that we don't have on northern Sweden...hehe :-)

Thanks for all the kind comments. Who knew people were so fond of woodpecker sounds!
