Rotary Phone Dialing

Thanks! In fact, I believe it's the return part of the process where the phone determines what "number" has been selected. The longer the return is, the more times this mechanism is struck as the dial spins back into place.

what a great recording for the sound museum! I hadn't really thought about how the return gets longer on each number before.
