This sand was recorded sing a ZOOM H1 recording microphone in a home-made studio at a distance of 10 Cm from the mic. I surrounded the ice tray with pillows to create a more isolated sound effect. I then cracked an ice tray from the freezer into the mic, I edited the sound to mute the room tone and faded the beginning and end as the ice was making a cracking sound from defrosting.
