This recording is adapted to headphones due to the microphones mount. The microphones were placed as a normal pair of ear phones in the hollow next to the ear canal in a silicone cast of my ears. The silicone ears was mounted on both sides of a tree. The headphones reproduce the sound at the same position regarding to the ears as it were recorded just outside the hollow next to the ear canal.
The sound's way to the ear-drums is around the head and shoulders. Next at the ear the sound passes the helix, scapha, anti-helix, tragus and lobe depending on the original direction of the sound, see wikipedia for the anatomy of the ear https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auricle_(anatomy). Before the sound activates the ear drums it passes the concha and canal. The sound is recorded before it enters the concha and canal as most people wear a pair of in ear phones.
