The carillon in Shapard's Tower at All Saints Chapel, the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., USA. Recorded in 1992 using two Audio-Technica dynamic mics placed on stands about 10 feet apart in the quadrangle close to the chaplain's office.
There used to be ivy on the side of the building above the chaplain's office where a lot of birds nested, hence the loud-ish bird tweets throughout the recording. The carillon begins at around 20 seconds with some opening chords and chromatic runs where it sounds like the carillon player is sort of warming up. Then note that there is a **cut** at about 1 minute 19 seconds where the recording switches to the carillon playing a hymn.
This recording is completely raw and unprocessed and was my attempt to get some of the ambience of Sewanee for an album I was making.
