Morning in August in the polder of the village of Lage-Zwaluwe in the Netherlands,
It is 7:30 in the morning. People are going to work. Someone gives a farewell honk.
Lesser Black-backed Gulls are calling in the distance above the river, and the Carrion Crow is also making itself heard.
The microphone stands behind a house on the edge of the village with the vast polder in front of it (see photo).
