The sound of what I imagine a hammer striking an anvil would probably make. This was created by hitting two knives together and resampling it for a lower pitch. Because I only sampled at 44,100 Hz, most high frequency information is gone. I might make these again recording at 192 kHz if I find the time.

thanks for the comments. i used a AKG C900 (presence filter removed) for these recordings, so yeah, getting some response beyond 20khz shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Yeah great sample. Would work well in the context you describing. a 192 kzh (mike it very close and even mikes rated to 20 khz will pick ups stuff way above 30 khz) would be great too. I do a lot of that stuff with my sound devices 722 and it works very well.
