this recording is of a fireplace at a friend's house in eagles mere, pennsylvania.
the fire burns pretty uniformly in the background. in the foreground is
me using the poker to adjust the logs. there is metal-on-metal clanging
(and a bell-like ringing tone at the beginning), the sound of the metal
mesh screen being rattled around, a couple of heavy thuds when the logs
shift places, and the slippery sound of the ash and coals being
disturbed. stereo recording: sony ecm-ds70p -> minidisc.
