Experiment. I had created an image using Blender 3D of its built-in procedural texture 'Wood' with bands and a bit of noise.A discussion on the forum about importing images as raw audio to create wacky new sounds prompted me to do some experiments. I took the woodband image and attempted importing it as raw. It worked, but the sample was 'flipped' (hard to explain). I defeated the flipping by shifting the shades of grey in the image before exporting. This file imported worked like a charm.Only editing done is bias reset and cropped to start and end the sample as close to the center line as possible. No eq or any other processing done.

Yeah, though this one isn't loopable, it would be easy to edit so it does loop. Add an envelope and you got a pretty cool sounding instrument.
May need some extra tuning though.

This sample is great. You could never tell it was created using such a crazy method.
To me it sounds like a lead guitar with plenty of sustain.
