I picked up a home-grade reel to reel machine at a thrift store and and this is the tape which was in it. A father sends messages from home to his son in the U.S. Navy during the vietnam war, including fatherly advice about cars and shopping overseas and anxiously awaiting his sons return. He provides sample fodder at 14:19 about musical gear lust and otherwise provides an insight to the times.
As no parties in this recording are explicitly identified, and while I did not record this, I am the de facto owner of the recording at this point and think it best to preserve it by posting it here as CC0.

Boy, this recording sure brings back old memories! Especially all the old Brand Names mentioned that no longer exist in today's market.

Didn't know King Soopers was a thing back in the day.
lol love this. They must be from Colorado as they talk about buying cars in Longmont, Colorado. Also King Soopers is pretty much the only food market prominent in Colorado, especially back in those days.
The end is sweet and funny, but kind of sad and mysterious, are these people alive still, what would they think if they heard this again.
IDK, but this is indeed and wonderful piece of the old days.
