This organ-like sound, which resembles what you might hear in a black and white horror movie, has been synthesized using a freeware program known as Kangas Sound Editor (http://www.kangasound.com/).
The sound has been constructed using just-intonation with a frequency ratio of 3/2 (a perfect fifth) between successive notes, which rise in pitch.
A particular feature of this sound is the use of a sawtooth wave-generator/oscillator in its construction. The currently released Kangas Sound Editor (4.2.0) constructs sounds only from sinusoidal waves, the sawtooth wave has been created by a development version of the software.
A possible application of this sound is to signify the end of a video game, or the completion of a level in a video game.
