If Charles Dickens may be counted as an authority on the matter, to harbour a cricket in one's home was once an honour and a good omen. Perhaps it still is. That being the case, I am privileged, and I hereby share my good fortune with this community in the form of a recording of that hallowed insect's chirping.
However, I do not find its call as soothing as some might, and if it continues to bruise the air with its incessant racket, I may be moved to seek it out and destroy it! So... perhaps...in memoriam...

Nice recording of a lonely cricket. Lovely, and poetic too. In my experience this is hard to get because most often one gets several crickets chirping together. Hope you didn't destroy the poor little beast, but if you did... in memoriam, as you say
