Recorded on a cold, wet september day during a break in the rainstorm. As I made my way down the gravel road, the sun came out , warming and brightening the landscape. I passed by amber pastures where water droplets glistened on the autumn grass. Even the wind died down a bit.
I stopped to record across from a cow pasture. Frogs sang in the forest above me and crickets sang in the pasture. Occasionally, one of the cows in the distance would move, making soft noises of rustling grass.
This is a wide soundscape full of crickets and frogs, without too much wind noise - the most idyllic of the four recordings from this session.
Recorded on Olympus LS-10 and my binaural rig: a set of paired omnidirectional mics with preamp sold by Church Audio, worn over my ears in a homemade windscreen that resembles a pair of earmuffs.
Recording date: Sept 8, 2012, 4:14 PM.
Recording location: A rural area in Greenbriar County, WV.
