Recorded on a cold, wet september day during a break in the rainstorm. I continued up the gravel road a ways to a location with a bit of running water
in the creek. The acoustic access to the forest is good in this location, and the hiss of wind through the broadleaf trees is very loud. A particularly querulous bird complains about the weather.
Just before I cut off the recording, a strange mechanical hum begins. I'm not sure what it is.
Recorded on Olympus LS-10 and my binaural rig: a set of paired omnidirectional mics with preamp sold by Church Audio, worn over my ears in a homemade windscreen that resembles a pair of earmuffs.
Recording date: Sept 8, 2012, 3:41 PM.
Recording location: A rural area in Greenbriar County, WV.
