As I rounded the bend in the gravel road, the woods opened out and I found myself on an overlook above a beautiful tree-studded valley with a stream winding through the grass. The sky was getting darker, but a few birds were still singing, most notably a pair of thrushes. Their songs echoed through the valley and a light breeze whispered through the forest behind me.
Recorded on Olympus LS-10 and my binaural rig: a set of paired omnidirectional mics with preamp sold by Church Audio, worn over my ears in a homemade windscreen that resembles a pair of earmuffs.
Recording date: July 15, 2013, early evening.
Recording location: A rural area in Greenbriar County, WV.
