The increasing number of population of this bird species is quite alarming to Americans. However, concerning to this, the plane apparently hit a flock of Canada Geese, which are fairly built birds. The flight from La Guardia Airport in New York took off for South Carolina, and three minutes into the flight lost both engines and crashed into the Hudson. The loss of the engines was due to what is called bird strike, or when a flock of birds get sucked into a plane's engines and causes them to fail. The larger the bird, the larger the danger when it goes through a turbine. Luckily, there were no fatalities or major injuries, and all passengers and crew made it off the plane safely.
