I seen someone by the name of ztidlen (https://freesound.org/people/ztidlen/) who has been uploading AI-generated music. Is this OK for Freesound? AI is usually trained with mass amounts of human data, the majority of which is copyrighted. Not to mention in the rules you HAVE to make the audio yourself. With all the public scrutiny surrounding AI recently especially with artists and authors and the suspicious amount of copyrighted material being trained by companies like OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, StabilityAI, you name it, it is unlikely in my opinion that Freesound, in the future, would allow AI. Yes, there is ethical AI, but like the example what if someone did not specify the AI used? That could be a mess. I'm just asking about this.
If the AI output is effectively a mash-up to the point the original(s) is/are unrecognizable,
then, IMO, it's the same scenario as this ...

" if you cut a piece of sound from a song and then process it until it's completely unrecognizable, that's fine!".
This is an ongoing debate and there is no general consensus about how to address these situations. So far, it seems like the position expressed by @Timbre would be quite common, and using copyrighted material in training data is still a sort of legal grey area. Transparency in which AI was used is definitely something that we should indicate when uploading sounds.
I think the biggest problem with AI generated stuff is how much automatically and indifferently generated sludge will be uploaded by people who just want the psychological rush of being seen to have created something or contributed something—or who want to try and make money somehow—who nevertheless are unable or unwilling to put any work into creating anything. I predict a lot of it will be uploaded unfiltered and relatively unprocessed. I feel like just to stop the website being drowned in autogenerated rubbish tied to a ko-fi account or whatever, that it'd be a good idea to keep AI-generated stuff off for now. I know not everyone can upload masterpieces, but I'd rather a hobbyist upload a few bad hand-made sounds with passion than someone with a fast computer or a beta to some new site upload minutes or hours of regurgitated data.
