I actually like lo-fi sounds . Good for noise music. Also, you find stuff in "bad recordings". Background noise is the best even.
I 2nd that...I like it when the sounds are a bit gruff.
Some sounds I uploaded are 20-30 years oldand transfered from cassette, I wil go back in time with a digital recorder and recapture them as soon as the technology becomes available... The point is that there is a lot more to this site than 16 bit CD quality sounds of perfectly recorded material... unless you live in an insulated recording chamber with $1000 mics, the sounds around are tainted with environmental influences and the flaws of the media that captured the sounds... I agree ( I don't use the quote button ) about lofi /hifi tags... people are not describing things enough apparently... I also agree about lofi sounds having a place... BUT someone who deliberately records something at 11k or 22k or 8bit (unless you are using a commodore...) is doing themselves and all of us a disservice. You can always dither it down yourself but you can never recover digitaly distorted and truncated frequencies (not yet anyway) SO... Take the source and context into consideration when judging sound quality and when capturing a sound, try to get as much of the signal as possible... Have a great weekend...
