I plopped a wee copyright claim on one of his youtube videos of my sound.
Was quickly removed , however after this I have got a counter copyright notification on it,
Im asking as a lot of you guys are pretty good with the copyright malarky?

Are you saying that he responded to your claim by making a false counter-claim to the legal copyright of a work created by you? Could you post the relevant bit of the notification (don't reveal his address or anything personal)
Is this some tactic to avoid action from Youtube? By making a false counterclaim he can avoid a strike by YT and preserve his reputation with them...
Do we know for a fact that SEF is 16/17 years old? I hadn't realized.
If so then he's not old enough to enter in to legal statements of this kind without the consent and involvement of his parents. So maybe an expedient approach would be to get his parents involved. Perhaps the prospect of a lawsuit would focus their minds more than his...
I get what you mean , I am also trying to take a professional as possible approach to this.
Dont want to start an internet war , just want to make sure my sounds stay off his channel.
Good stance to take, i'm gonna go make some original sounds, think the flavour is transformers tonight.
Cheers dude
By falsely filing a DMCA counter-notice he gets away with not having a strike against his YT account. That's why he is appearing to be accommodating by saying he'll take down anything that people object to because he presumably hopes people will approach him directly rather than involving Youtube.
If he is under the age of majority then he's not legally able to file a DMCA counter-notice; it must be filed by a parent or legal guardian. If so, then you should apply to Youtube to have the notice set aside on the grounds that it's legally invalid. That way he gets a strike against his account and is closer to being taken down altogether. Being taken down would mean he loses all his accounts.
This thread is degenerating more and more so I sunk it for now, probably will delete it afterwards.
Timbre, posting details about people online is not cool, not cool at all.
JimiMod, stop your unappropriate language.
Yes there are copyright infringements going on
Yes SEF is doing some things wrong
I am dealing with SEF "behind the scenes" but you guys keep on festering up this thread like there is no tomorrow.
Go to youtube/mediafire and file copyright infringements, like for example JarredGibb did.
Incessant whining in this thread is not going to help.

That information identifying SEF was already in this thread.
I exercised restraint by by not publicly posting his full address and telephone number.
( which are not in this thread ).
The (excellent) suggestion was someone should contact SEF's parent(s) , again , ( even though he is chronologically an adult ).
That identifying information could enable aggrieved parties to communicate with his parent(s) ,
which could actually be in SEF's interest : preferable to legal action which would cancel-out all the profits he's made.

Well, at least we know you're still behind the scenes. You said that a few days ago and never came back. SEF was still acting the same and even responding to this thread with the same attitude, or even worse, claiming that he had your permission to do this or that.
Do not be wrong, Bram, you're the admin of the place, but you're simply nobody special or entitled to represent us. Any individual user can disagree with you representing him and can choose to represent him or herself.
And yes, I filed copyright infringements to both YouTube and MediaFire. YouTube didn't help because of SEF's counterclaim and I'm still waiting for MediaFire. We wouldn't be ranting here so much of these methods actually worked.

New sound by SEF
Attribution attached,
Looks like he is starting to change his ways .
Main Sound Effects Channel:

Licence Terms: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...
Peoples thoughts on this?
Its a start i say, makes me feel a little bit better.
Currently SEF says in his YouTube channel-description page ...
" If your copyright is being violated and/or you don't want your sounds displayed on this channel, please send me a Personal Message/contact me and I will happily delete the video(s)!" http://www.youtube.com/user/SoundEffectsFactory/about
[ bold emphasis is mine]If you have asked him to take-down a video whose soundtrack entirely consists of a sound you created, and he has refused , e.g. by putting the video back up, you could complain to YouTube about the "misleading text" , in his YouTube channel-description : in reality he doesn't "happily delete the video(s)" when asked by the sound-creator as stated in his YouTube description.
Here's where you can complain about what YouTube euphemistically calls "misleading text" ...
http://imageshack.com/a/img580/3882/pxe.gif
or complain via the YouTube "Send feedback" link at the very bottom of the SEF "about" page... http://www.youtube.com/user/SoundEffectsFactory/about
Oh dear,
the images used on all the SoundEffectsFactory and SoundEffectsArchive videos are ,
(surprise-surprise), not created by Kyle and are copyrighted ...
http://imageshack.com/a/img834/1295/irxm.gifhttp://imageshack.com/a/img841/7277/qere.gif
I'm sure Kyle has obtained permission, (e.g. bought a license),
to use these copyrighted images on his YouTube channels ;¬)
In his defense, he retired my sounds after asking him to.
However, that's the only defense I can make of him.
Perhaps, Timbre, we should take more direct actions? I understand your will to catch him using every possible strategy, but it starts to feel a bit ridiculous and I think we should take a more direct approach. Don't you agree?
