Tried Reaper and found out that I really like it. For a sixty dollar basic license you get a ton of effects and, finally, a user interface that those of us without a musicology degree can figure out and actually produce sounds and mix in.
I'm producing nature environmental type soundscapes mixed with brainwave entrainment for meditation.
Reaper is easy and awesome, and there's still a lot of advanced features you can use later. FL Studio is nice too, but a little bit more difficult to navigate.
