The distortion was from the MD pre-amp.

Why distorted? Was it recorded or handmade? But I presume, as I can see in the wave forms, the distortion was made by PT. A good hint: never use a minisdisc recorder, they all sounds shitty! Go back to the old fashioned DAT or use a good equipped microphone PreAmp mp3 flashcard recorder. I'm strongly interested in your field recordings- thanx
