This sound is a fully artificial fire effect made in Pure Data and is based on an example in Andy Farnells book Designing Sound. It's made by filtering and modulating white noise (subtractive synthesis). I've modified it and made it stereo. After writing it into a file I made some edits (start/end fade etc.) in Sound Forge Pro. If You want to make it an eternal flame ... it's perfectly loopable ;)
PS: One advantage of synthetisis is that there are absolutely no unwanted sounds (like interfering noise one might get by recording a fire out in the field).
